Lipomas

What are Lipomas?

They are benign, soft fatty lumps which can vary in their size growing under your skin and can commonly appear on the neck, chest, and back and face. A lipoma can feel doughy to touch and is not normally tender to the touch, it also can move easily with small finger pressure, some lipomas can start through middle age .Some people have more than one Lipoma on their body and in most cases we offer the facility of dealing with multiple Lipomas on one surgery session. Lipomas may sometimes be painful when they grow and press on nearby nerves or sometimes they contain many blood vessels.

They are usually slow growing and tend not to be painful.

The most common reasons why our patients request lipoma removal is when they become larger and painful and hard to the touch. If they form on the face, or forehead you may feel conscious of how they look.
